Pol Roger Champagnes

Featured Champagnes

I love my job! Part of my job is to tell people about Champagne. I think we should feature the best...In walks Christian Pol Roger with champagnes and history dating back to the mid 1800's and the oldest family owned winery in Champagne, France. My first interview with Christian was over the phone, my second in San Francisco, at the Bubbles Lounge. Do yourself a favor and pick up a bottle of Pol Roger Champagne and taste the finest champagne in the world. They have been and always will be on the cutting edge of the wine industry, world wide. In the United States Pol Roger Champagnes are distributed through Frederick Wildman and Sons. I have been working with Pol Roger and Frederick Wildman and Son for about two years now and have nothing but rave reviews. I will be featuring their wines many times this year and in the future.

Non-Vintage Brut
Non-vintage Champagne is a sparkling wine from a number of different vintages. Champagne houses try to make a n/v every year that are quite similar in style and taste. This is one of the best. Before you listen, take a moment and pour a glass of Pol Roger, after all, "A moment without Champagne...is a moment wasted."

1996 Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill
Mr. Churchill loved Pol Roger champagnes and had a special relationship with this house and family. This wine is in honor of one of the world's greatest heroes and is the source of many great moments throughout the lives of many great people (large and small). This is their best from Pol Roger, but I like to think of each of these wines as the best in their classic, you can decide for yourself. Cheers!!

Pol Roger 1998 Brut Chardonnay
Made from only Chardonnay grapes, this is a jewel of the Pol Roger house. A perfect sparkling wine, made for food and made for love. End of discussion. Pol Roger owns over 200 acres and their caves extend over 4 miles of winding chalk passage ways on two levels. This wine is from 18 grands and premiere crus, which means this Champagne house has many relationships with many great vineyards and 200 acres of their own to produce the finest most food friendly Champagne in the world. Let's join Christian Pol Roger and find out more about this 1998 Vintage Brut.

Pol Roger Brut Rose 1999
My favorite of all Champagnes is Rose. To create Rose, about 15% of Pinot Noir (vinified en route from grapes grown in the village of Bouzy, and drawn from the same vintage) is added to the vintage blend, which comes from around 20 different grand and premiere crus. In total the cuvee Rose contains approximately two thirds Pinot Noir and one third Chardonnay. In a word....Perfection!
