Henry Estate Winery is located in Umpqua, Oregon. Take exit 136 off route 5, then just a short drive to the huge place called Umpqua. Since the 1880's five generations of Henrys have lived in this beautiful valley. The area is quite diverse and the winery grows many different grapes. In 1972, Calvin Scott Henry III founded this great winery. Henry Estate Gewurztraminer 2003
This wine is perfect with spicy food! The 2003 Henry Estate is full of fruit, spice and a certain backbone that I love. I think it's the acid from the cold nights and warm days in Umpqua Valley. I'll check with Scott next time in, and get back to you. In the mean time enjoy this feature.

Merlot 2002
Rare is it, in this world, that a winery is very successful at Bordeaux and Burgundian varitals, all in the same location. The many micro-climates allow this winery to make world class Pinots as well as Cabernets Sauvignon, Merlots, and Cabernet Francs. This wine is a favorite and lends itself to many different dishes, and I like the sound of that!

Ice Wine 2002
I never get tired of listening to the story about this wine. I believe it's the only time in the past 30 years that the temperature went down to 17 degrees or lower and they went out and picked the “BB” like fruit. The rest is history in the bottle. Enjoy this feature as Scott Henry relives that very cold October day.

Pinot Gris 2005
Yet another great wine from this diverse wine region, it has that Henry Estate signature with tropical fruit, peaches and that great finish. This is a perfect wine for Turkey maybe try a bottle this next Thanksgiving!

Henry the 4th
I think this is a history lesson every time I drink this wine. The current vintage is the Henry the 5th. I like to listen to this feature often as it tells of the history of all the components that make up this wine. From the planting of each grape to the adding of that grape to the blend, this story is what this winery and winemaking are all about.

Barrel Select 2000 Pinot Noir 
 This Pinot Noir is a result of choosing the best barrels of each vintage. This is the mid-price Pinot from Henry Estate Winery; the Winemaker's Reserve being the best is priced accordingly. This has complexity and body, along with the signature Umpqua fruit and backbone which I have come to expect from this winery. When visiting Henry Estate, check out the barrel, just as you enter the tasting room. You might find a treasure or two from past vintages of Pinot Noir and Chardonnays, and a few other great wines from this winery.
